Maine Company Announced as Finalist for Wave Energy Prize


August, 2016 (Portland --) Maine Marine Composites (MMC) has completed an extensive analysis of a wave energy converter for Rohrer Technologies, Inc (RTI). RTI, a local Maine company, was announced this year as one of nine finalists for the U.S. Department of Energy's Wave Energy Prize to identify innovative wave energy converter technologies.

MMC has been an active member of the RTI team, leading an effort to develop computer simulation models of the RTI technology, which has guided the technology's design and optimization. RTI will be conducting experiments of their wave energy converter, incorporating results of MMC's optimization work, at the U.S. Navy's Carderock Division research center this fall.
